Scotland - North East Coast

The Sinclair family occupied the castle at Noss Head since the 1300s. They became the Earls of Caithness but were also Earls of Orkney with castles also at Kirkwall and Rosslyn near Edinburgh. This was their residence during the 1400s - 1600s until the castle was seized by Cromwell's troops in 1651. It fell into ruin not long after that.
